Ravalli County

WGM Group provides professional engineering services on an ongoing basis for Ravalli County. Acting as the Ravalli County consulting engineer through an open contract, we work closely with the Road and Bridge Department, Planning Office, and Board of County Commissioners providing a variety of services, including design, project funding, layout of roadway construction projects, assistance with writing regulations, and review of private development proposals.

In 2007, WGM Group successfully obtained a planning grant on the County’s behalf from the Treasure State Endowment Program (TSEP). This grant allowed WGM Group to complete a countywide bridge inventory, including the compilation of a detailed GIS database. From this inventory, the County was able to identify structures in need of attention. In 2008, WGM Group completed a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) and submitted a grant application to TSEP for the construction funding to replace a series of culverts on Sweathouse Creek with a bridge. The WGM Group PER ranked 2nd out of 65 grant applications and $138,000 was earmarked for replacement of the Sweathouse Creek crossing.

In 2007-2008, WGM Group provided design and construction services for the $500,000 Kootenai Creek Bridge Replacement project. A rain and snow event in 2006 caused high flows in Kootenai Creek and ultimately, structural failure of the existing multi-plate arch structure. An 80-foot long by 24-foot wide weathering steel modular bridge now stands in its place.

WGM Group has been involved in engineering and surveying services within Ravalli County since the early 1970s, performing engineering and survey work from Sula to Florence.
