The 39th Street/Southwest Higgins project reconstructed an important urban arterial street in south Missoula. This project involved designing a complete street by widening the street to add a center turn lane, bicycle lanes, curb, gutter and sidewalk. A comprehensive storm drainage system, and sanitary sewer and irrigation main improvements were added to the corridor. This required complex utility coordination to install a large diameter storm drain in an existing urban right-of-way.
WGM Group provided project management, design, right-of-way acquisition, bidding and construction administration services for the project.
This was one of the first large-scale Montana Department of Transportation funded construction projects in the state to be administered by a private consultant.
Total construction costs were approximately $10 million, with 11 different funding sources.
