Cave Gulch Aerial Mapping Project
The client for this project needed contour mapping of approximately 3,400 Acres, and orthorectified digital aerial imagery of approximately 10,300 Acres in Granite County, Montana. WGM Group effected a GPS geodetic control survey using GPS static techniques to obtain horizontal and vertical aerial photography control for the orthophotography. The topographic mapping was done by a subcontractor using LiDAR mapping techniques from an aerial platform. WGM group collected the real-time GPS ground observations to control the position of the aircraft using RTK-GPS post processing techniques and performed confidence points throughout the mapping area. The topographic map had a 2-foot contour interval and included all roads, tracks, and structures in the mapping limits. The mapping was completed in the summer of 2009.
