Madison Street Bicycle / Pedestrian Bridge

Missoula’s Madison Street Bicycle-Pedestrian Bridge adds another important link in the Clark Fork River Trail system, and provides a valuable recreation and transportation asset to the community. Spanning the Clark Fork River between the University of Montana campus and downtown Missoula, this unique bridge provides users with a safe river crossing at a convenient location, and affords its users easier access to cultural, educational, and community resources. Located beneath the existing Madison Street Bridge, the new structure utilizes the existing piers, reducing the cost of construction and minimizing impacts to the river. The multi-span suspension bridge design provides an aesthetically pleasing look, while preserving the structural integrity of the existing piers.

Through innovative design and efficient construction practices, the project met the time constraints and financial goals of the City of Missoula. The Madison Street Bicycle-Pedestrian Bridge will provide Missoulians with an environmentally friendly and functional transportation solution for years to come.

WGM Group teamed with Beaudette Consulting Engineers and Oz Architects on the design and construction of this bridge. WGM Group provided project management, survey, NEPA documentation, hydraulic analysis, environmental permitting, and construction administration services on the project.
