  • 2011 Road Rehabilitation in Ravalli County

On November 2nd WGM Group was honored by peers from the American Council of Engineering Companies for our contribution to design of the US-93 Lolo to Hamilton project. Implementation of this project required an extensive public involvement process and three different consultants, working collaboratively to design and construct the 45-mile corridor. A Citizen's Advisory Committee was organized to include Focus Groups for specific interests and sections. The design team and MDT met regularly with the public and the outcome of the 19-year collaboration is a highly unique design that respects the splendor of the area, addresses local needs, increases capacity, and improves safety on one of the most beautiful 45-mile stretches of the National Highway System.

Ribbon Cut and Partnership Celebrated

On a crisp November morning a crowd of roughly 30 people gathered to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting of the 5th/6th/Arthur Project. Since the project has been operational for over a month, the event focused on celebrating the special relationship between the University of Montana and the City of Missoula. Key speakers included University of Montana President Royce Engstrom and City of Missoula Mayor John Engen. Both expressed gratitude for the results oriented collaboration between Missoula's two major entities. The project was funded by a unique partnership in which the University picked up the tab through a City SID on areas owned by the school. Because much of the project was on US Highway 12, MDT was also a partner. WGM Group worked with all three entities and many private citizens to develop a design that enhanced safety and circulation for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists without increasing vehicle capacity.
